Kickass Movie List #100 - The Two Towers

Today we begin our list with a great scene from the end of the second movie in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Two Towers. The whole trilogy is packed with epic fights and wizardry aplenty, but the lifeblood of the story is still two hobbits, and their attempt to handle a task that is way over their heads.

In moment number 100, Samwise elaborates...

"There's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and it's worth fighting for."

It's shamelessly sentimental, but I still feel the emotion every time I watch this scene. The task of destroying the Ring has begun to wear heavily on Frodo, and Samwise can do nothing but watch as his friend spirals further and further down, culminating in this great moment where he has to tackle Frodo to keep him from giving the ring to one of Sauron's agents. Swords are drawn, homoerotic tensions are heightened, and Samwise gives a nifty little lecture on the stories that really matter.

True story, this movie was Lindsey and I's first date. She agreed to sit in line all day with us for reasons I will never understand (opening night), and she met all my oddball friends. It was love.

She hates the entire trilogy with white hot passion, and will not watch even small clips from the movies.
