The Long Winter is Over...

Tonight, I'll be curling up on the couch, grabbing a beer, and greatly enjoying the return of Minnesota Twins baseball. Spring training has been going on for a while, of course, but this is the day that really marks baseball's return.

Livan Hernandez is starting, which irks me to no end, and I see that Craig Monroe is being given the start over Jason Kubel which is - to say the least - ridiculous, especially considering the starter is a righty.... but all those things are meaningless, the Twins are back!!

You Suck, Universal Records...

I purchased the new Be Your Own Pet CD on Saturday. It's pretty decent, what with the bratty female-fronted noise punk, but I already knew that... I'd downloaded a relatively low-quality leak a few weeks ago, so I had a pretty good idea what I was getting into.

Not quite enough of an idea, it seems...

It seems that 3 of the songs on Get Awkward are 'too violent'. This would usually bother me, anyway, but when one of those tunes happens to be my favorite off of the CD. Well, dammit... you've gone ahead and pissed me right off, you corporate cockflickers. Here's the lyrics to 'Becky':

Doesn't matter anyway, 'cause I've got a brand new friend, OK
Me and her, we'll kick your ass
We'll wait with knives after class!

With bands like Bloodhound Gang, Lil Wayne, and Lindsay Lohan under employment in one form or another by Universal, I'm a bit confused as to why things need to be pared off the album seemingly for no good reason while Bloodhound Gang gets to keep their mind-bogglingly dumb (and giddily profane) music untouched and complete. I mean, what... songs about teenage revenge murders aren't kosher?

So yay, now I get to own a dumbed down, murder-free version of Get Awkward. Hooray for double standards, corporate shenanigans and all-around general idiocy!

Note to Universal Music Group: I'm no dancer, but on that sweet day when no one's buying your products anymore, and the entire music industry moves and leaves you and your old ways in the dust, I think I might cut a jig on your grave.

Prepare for Good News?

The above links to Interplay's website, which for a LONG time has lay in a near-death state. It's got a 'coming soon' image now. Generally, that would do nothing but annoy me, but if you'll notice something in the upper left hand corner...

That really appears to be a shield orb...

Now, judging by the fact that they have other classic Interplay icons on there, it's a little naive to think that they'll be making sequels to all the games shown. This is, however, the closest thing to good news about a Descent 4 since... well... longer than I care to keep track of.
Here's hoping.

RonDL, Part 2

From a story on the Official Site of the Minnesota Twins:

"Outfielder Craig Monroe is not expected to see game action until late in the week due to a muscle strain below his left calf.

Monroe said Sunday that the tightness he's been feeling is between his calf and ankle. He initially felt what he described as a "cramp" on Friday, the day after playing his first game in spikes."

From April 9th, 2007:

"Minneapolis, MN -- The Minnesota Twins announced after tonight's game that they have placed [...] outfielder Rondell White (retroactive to April 5) on the 15-day disabled list."

So yeah, I guess we've got that going for us...

But yeah, it's probably best that we take as many at bats from Kubel as possible. Best to give as many at bats as possible to "veterans" (especially those that hit .219 last season).

In more positive news... the Twins are back!! Consider me pumped!

According to this MP3, the hold steady feel the same way. (Okay, so this is from last year, but seriously... it STILL rules)
